Q1. How do I determine my level of Spanish and what course to take?
Our course descriptions and outlines are available on this site for all course levels. To book an evaluation, simply call 416-628-8373. Visit Test de EspaƱol for an online evaluation. Or you can attend one of our classes in order to determine your Spanish level (subject to availability).
Q2. How long is each course?
Each course lasts 5 weeks. You attend class once a week. Each class is 1.5 hours in length, for a total of 7.5 hours of instruction (5 classes).
Q3. How much is each course?
Each course (5 classes of 1.5 hours each class) costs $140.00 + HST - exception is the Yonge and Bloor location course fee is $150.00 + HST for (5 classes of 2 hours each class). There is an optional book available for $20.00.
Q4. How do I pay/register for a course?
We accept payment by Visa, debit, cash or cheque payable to Barlovento the first day of class.

Q6. What programs does Barlovento School of Spanish offer?
Adult group classes. There are 8 courses of 5 weeks each, taking students from Beginners, to Intermediate, to Advanced. It takes approximately 1 year to complete.
Childrens group classes. This program is based on the school year. Fall session and Winter/Spring session - check calendar for exact dates and course fees. Levels range from Beginners to Intermediate.
Toddlers group classes. This program is based on the school year. Fall session and Winter/Spring session- check calendar for exact dates and course fees. Beginner level only.
Business private / group classes. This program is customized to the specific needs of an individual or company. Contact us at info@spanishto.com or 416-628-8373 for more information.
Q7. Do you teach Spanish from Spain or from Latin America?
We teach international Spanish, which will help you anywhere Spanish is spoken. We do have teachers from both Spain and Latin America if you prefer one to another. There are no big differences between Spanish form Spain or Latin America. The Spanish language is only one, much like English. The only real difference are the accents, which you may or may not notice in the different cities of the Spanish speaking countries of the world.
Q8. What happens if I miss a class?
We offer make-up classes at no additional charge, if and when they are available. Your make-up class must fall within the five weeks of your course. This class may not be the exact class you missed, and may be at another location. To inquire about a make-up class please contact us
Q9. Can I cancel my registration/course?
Prior to the first class, you may cancel your registration with no charge. After the first class, you will be charged a $75.00 fee to cover your book, class time and administration charges. The balance of your payment will be returned by cheque. There is no refund after the second class.
For private classes, we have a 24-hour cancellation policy.
Q10. If I already have Spanish textbooks, do I need to purchase a book?
All books are optional and available at an additional cost.
Books are used in the class, but students can follow using their own text. There are only two books we recommend: a basic reference book for Beginners and an exercise textbook. A Spanish-English/English-Spanish dictionary is strongly recommended for all students.
Q11. Do you offer certificates of completion?
We offer certificates of completion, stating level of Spanish achieved, hours of in-class instruction and date of completion.
Q12. Do your courses cover the material equivalent to the international standars A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2?
Yes, our couses have been design according to the international standars of levels A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2.
Q13. Can teenagers attend the adult group classes?
Yes they can. Please contact us at info@spanishto.com or 416-628-8373 to discuss. Teenagers can attend independently or with a parent, depending on the situation.
