Spanish for Beginners in Toronto

Learn How to Speak Spanish

Barlovento School of Spanish offers 4 levels of beginner conversational Spanish at our Toronto locations.(fixed link below) Learn to speak Spanish the easy way – through conversation, interaction and fun! We incorporate video, music, role-playing and news articles into conversation and provide a solid grounding in introductory grammar.

Our Toronto beginner Spanish classes are small with no more than four to six people. Every class is 90 minutes in length (60 minutes at First Canadian location) and every course lasts five weeks. With new daytime and evening classes starting every month, there’s sure to be a class that fits your schedule!

Course Fee: $125 + GST (5 classes of 1.5 hours each- 1 hour each at First Canadian Location) Book $20 + GST (optional)
Courses offered Mon.-Tues.-Wed.-Thurs.- Sat. at our various locations.

Classes and Levels:

La Playa Spanish
Packing your bags for a southern vacation? This single-session, two-hour class will teach you all the Spanish you need to know. Course Fee: $45.00 + GST for 1 - 2 hour class.

Create Your Own Spanish Class
All you need are three friends (four students minimum) willing to take five Spanish classes. The location, frequency, day and time is up to you! Contact us or call to check availability.

Spanish Lessons for Beginners in Toronto: Levels I-IV

Upon completion of these courses you will be able to:

Beginners Spanish I

  1. Greet and say good-bye.
  2. Introduce yourself and others.
  3. Ask questions about people, places and things.
  4. Use basic vocabulary: family, numbers, colours and directions.
  5. Tell time.
  6. Place an order in a restaurant and learn to shop.
  7. Master basic grammar and pronunciation.
  8. Start to read and write.

Beginners Spanish II

  1. Ask and give directions (using “hay”).
  2. Count to one million.
  3. Talk about the weather.
  4. Express likes and dislikes.
  5. Express daily routines.
  6. Use Spanish verbs (To Be, To Have, To Go, To Like)
  7. Express yourself in the present and past tense.

Beginners Spanish III

  1. Talk about and plan your vacation.
  2. Interact with vendors while out shopping.
  3. Speak with a landlord about renting an apartment.
  4. Visit a doctor and discuss simple medical conditions.
  5. Visit a bank and discuss money matters.
  6. Describe how people look and act.

Beginners Spanish IV

  1. Identify dates and send invitations.
  2. Make future plans.
  3. Talk about past actions.
  4. Give instructions.
  5. Use different past tenses.
